What Is the Fast-Track Program?

Russia's Federal Migration Service launched a new accelerated work visa pathway in March 2024, targeting skilled professionals in technology, engineering, and healthcare. Unlike the standard work visa which can take 4–6 weeks, this program processes applications in as few as 7 calendar days.

The initiative is part of Russia's broader push to attract international talent amid growing demand in the tech sector, with major Russian companies actively recruiting from South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Who Qualifies?

The fast-track visa is available to foreign nationals employed by Russian companies in the following categories:

• Software Engineers & Developers (all languages)
• Data Scientists & AI/ML Engineers
• Cybersecurity Specialists
• Civil, Structural & Mechanical Engineers
• Project Managers (IT & Construction)
• Medical Doctors & Specialists (with Russian language certification)
• University Lecturers & Researchers

Required Documents

• Valid passport (minimum 18 months remaining validity)
• Signed employment contract with a registered Russian company
• Invitation letter from Russian employer (issued within 30 days)
• Proof of qualifications (university degree, professional certifications)
• Medical insurance valid in Russia (minimum 12-month coverage)
• 2 passport-size photos (35x45mm, white background)

How to Apply — Step by Step

Visa Duration & Extension

The initial fast-track work visa is granted for 1 year. It can be extended within Russia for an additional 1–2 years without needing to exit the country, provided your employment continues with the same sponsoring employer.

After 5 years of continuous legal residence, applicants may be eligible to apply for a Russian Temporary Residence Permit (TRP), which is the first step toward permanent residency.
