Visa Interview Tips

Prepare properly and attend your consular interview with confidence.

Do's for the Interview

  • Be Punctual: Arrive at the embassy at least 15-30 minutes early.
  • Dress Professionally: First impressions matter. Wear neat, formal attire.
  • Keep Answers Concise: Answer exactly what the officer asks without over-explaining.
  • Bring Organized Documents: Keep your papers in a clear folder, logically sorted so you can retrieve them instantly when asked.
  • Tell the Truth: Discrepancies between your verbal answers and application form are fatal to your application.
  • Maintain Eye Contact: Show confidence, be polite, and greet the officer.

Don'ts for the Interview

  • Don't Be Nervous: The officer is just doing their job to verify facts. Relax.
  • Don't Provide Unasked Documents: Only hand over documents when specifically requested.
  • Don't Argue: If the officer denies your visa or asks difficult questions, remain respectful.
  • Don't Memorize Speeches: Sounding robotic or rehearsed raises suspicion. Answer naturally.
  • Don't Show Desperation: Prove strong ties to your home country to show you will return after your visit.
